Written by Martin - Comments (0)

We have  introduced some changes to our phone system in the past week. Customers are now greeted with an automated voice menu directing them to the appropriate department. We tried to keep the process short and sweet so feedback is welcome if you feel we can improve this. The options are

  • Press 1 for Sales
  • Press 2 for Billing
  • Press 3 for Support
  • Hold on the line to be connected to the next available agent
  • Press 0 to repeat the above options

Please note for general support , billing and sales queries , our helpdesk is still the best form of contact.

Myhost adapts CDP Backup technology-R1Soft

Written by Martin - Comments (0)

Just wanted to keep you updated on some improvements we have made here at Myhost.ie.  We recently partnered with US based Data Backup specialists R1 Soft to deliver their amazing backup solution accross all our server platforms . Now, you may ask, didn’t you already have a backup solution in place ?  Yes of course we did, but now we have the best backup solution available on the market.  Using R1 Soft’s CDP (Continuous Backup Protection) Solution , we are able to restore damaged, lost or deleted files in minutes rather than the traditional hours/days you may have experienced with other web hosting providors. Data is stored on our custom SAN with RAID 10 for additional reliability and protection.

Some features of R1 Soft’s solution includes built-in support for backing up open files, bare metal disaster recovery, near continuous data protection and high speed backup technology.

SW Soft becomes Parallels

Written by Martin - Comments (2)

Not sure what the reasons are (I am sure they must be good). The leading hosting platform SWsoft has recently rebranded itself as Parallels. The Company offers a wide range of virtualization and automation solutions to both the consumer and business sectors of the hosting industry. We ourselves use Parallels technology in the form of PLESK control panels, Virtuozzo power panels and other miscellaneous server management software.

How will this effect you ? It wont to be honest but I just wanted to keep you informed in case you seen any of their branding changes in the control panels and started to grow curious .

Just a quick post about our recent membership to the Internet Service Providers Association of Ireland (ISPAI).

The ISPAI represents the Irish ISP industry at national, EU and International levels.  It is also a member of EuroISPA which is the voice of over 500 European ISP’s and Hosting Providers.

The ISPAI also established Hotline (www.hotline.ie) to combat illegal content being stored and distributed on the web, in particular child pornography.

MYHOST.IE offers the best Hosting Control Panels

Written by Martin - Comments (0)

We are proud to be able to offer the best hosting control panels on the Irish Hosting market , PLESK 8 and Virtuozzo. Many hosts offer inferior control panel products in an attempt to keep their costs to a minimum, but we are able to offer PLESK 8 even on our cheapest shared web hosting and email packages. Why do we do this ? Because we wont settle for anything less than the best hosting platform for our clients.

Virtuozzo is an OS Virtualization solution from the creators of PLESK. Virtuozzo creates isolated virtual environments on a single physical server and OS (Linux / Windows). These environments utilize the same physical hardware and software with the maximum of efficiency with a plethora of management tools.

PLESK is a comprehensive hosting control panel solution for managing shared , virtual and dedicated hosting. The software is easy and intuitive to use on any skill level and makes the management of your wesbites a breeze. For more information regarding PLESK please visit this website.

MYHOST.IE Launches a new look

Written by Martin - Comments (3)

Well we have been very busy the last few months re-developing our website , as you can see , its been worth it :) . The talented guys over at Caramel have done a fantastic job I think re-organizing the site content and cleaning up the navigation . I also wanted to get away from the generic ‘We Are Another Hosting Company’ style website, and I think we have acheived that. Feedback is welcome , both positive and negative (but only if constructive :) )

Introducing Realex

Written by Martin - Comments (0)

I am happy to announce that we have introduced a new payments provider Realex Payments. We can now process credit cards in realtime (over the phone for example) with the confidence that we are dealing with an Irish company and Irish Banks (thats a good thing , right ? :) ) I must admit that the whole process was very impressive and encouraging . The Realex people are a really nice and helpful bunch and it made a change dealing with a company that actually wanted your business, (a bit like ourselves)

The reason for this move was mainly down to feedback from our clients . We had only been offering PayPal (Dont get me started) and 2CO up until now which although did ‘WORK’ and was fine for the majority of our customers, going forward it was not doing our business any favours.

So here’s to taking lots of credit card orders in the future :)
