You’ll need to provide:
Connection with Ireland
To show your connection with the island of Ireland and that you are a registered company, please provide any ONE of the following:
- Irish VAT number, or other documentation from the Revenue Commissioners.
- RBN number – find yours here.
- CRO number – find yours here.
- Tax clearance certificate from Ireland’s Revenue Commissioners (or other correspondence from them showing your VAT number).
- Irish / European Community Trademark number.
- WIPO Trademark number (enforceable in Ireland).
- Correspondence from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) (showing that you are registered for trading and resident in the island of Ireland).
You’ll need to provide:

- Irish VAT number, or other documentation from the Revenue Commissioners.
- RBN number – find yours here.

If you hold a registered trademark, this can be used to support some, or all, of our requirements.
Connection with Ireland
The following trademarks provide a valid connection with Ireland:
- Irish trademark number.
- European Community trademark number.
- WIPO trademark number, if this is enforceable within Ireland.
- International trademark numbers (holder’s address must be listed in Ireland on TM database).

- A letter on headed paper, confirming the name and address of the applicant club, society or band.
- If you are a friendly society registered under the Friendly Societies Acts 1896-2014, you’ll need to provide your identifying number with the Friendly Societies Register. friendly society

To show proof of your connection to the island of Ireland, you should include either ONE of the following:
- Your school’s roll number, which will be checked with the Department of Education’s online schools list. Find this here.
- If you don’t have a roll number, you should include a letter on headed paper, showing the name and address of the school or college applying. Find this here.
Charity
You’ll need to provide:

Charities registered within the island of Ireland can apply for .ie domains.
You will need to include any ONE of the following:
- CHY number (Irish Revenue Commissioners issued number). Find this here.
- NIC number (Northern Ireland Charity Commission issued number). Find this here.
Statutory body
Includes State or Government bodies, agencies, and departments (including hospitals, Semi-State Bodies, education and training boards and local authorities).
You’ll need to provide:

You’ll need to include a letter on headed paper confirming the name and address of the body applying. You should also explain what type of body you are.
This is only required the first time you register a domain.
Overseas / other
If your business is not registered for trading in the island of Ireland, you may still be eligible to apply, if you can provide:

- Trade invoices.
