In part 4 of our ‘How to get online’ series, it’s time to get a professional email address. Communication with your customers is vital in order to build a relationship and encourage brand loyalty.
What does a professional email address consist of?
What we mean by this is an email address that has your business’s name after the @ instead of another company like Google or Yahoo. You could get info@yourbusiness.ie or marketing@yourbusiness.com. With a professional email address, you are branding your business, not the one you use for a free email address.
How is it better?
It makes it more difficult for someone (like a competitor or scammer) to copy your email address and make one similar to it.
It’s based on your domain so if you have a website with a domain, you can get an email address that is the same as your website. You could add ‘contact’ before the @ so it looks like contact@yourbusiness.ie.
If you have multiple domains that each have a different extension, you can tailor your email address to that too. You don’t have to stick to info@yourbusiness.ie alone if you also have a .com domain – you can get info@yourbusiness.com also.
As we stated earlier, it brands your business, and you can build trust with your customers because they’ll know that the emails they receive aren’t coming from a scammer that can get a free email address like anyone else. In fact, 74% of Irish consumers trust businesses that use professional email addresses.
You can send newsletters to customers with an address like news@yourbusiness.com to remind or inform people of what’s going on in your business.
You can even get a person email address if you want to avoid a free email address that anyone in the world can get. You might not want ino@yourname.com, but instead you could get firstname@lastname.com so people remember your email address better.
